The Iliad and the Odyssey at the Orensanz Foundation for the Arts
New York, New York, October 24, 2004 and April 1, 2005
In 2004, the Readers premiered in New York City with a twelve-hour, all-night reading of the Iliad at the Orensanz Foundation for the Arts (now the Angel Orensanz Foundation for the Arts). The reading was accompanied by music from the percussionist Bill Warren and an exhibition of art by Laura Hohlwein.
The Readers returned the following year with the Odyssey, again in a special all-night format at the legendary Orensanz space on Norfolk Street. Participants read Rodney Merrill's then-new translation, and enjoyed musical accompaniment by Avram Pengas.
